MTI Announces Expansion
October 23, 2006

Midwest TeleMark International (MTI), headquartered in Mohall, North Dakota, is an inbound/ outbound teleservices company that also offers data entry services to their clients. MTI’s clients are primarily telecommunications companies.

MTI has nine sites located in North Dakota and two in Canada—Beulah, Bottineau, Fessenden, Grafton, Kenmare, Langdon, Rugby, Stanley; Boissevain and Brandon, Manitoba. MTI currently employees over 500 full and part time personnel.

The Lake Region Growth Fund participated in the expansion project with a total investment of $44,519 and anticipates over 50 full time positions.

Denise and FriendsThe Devils Lake Regional Partnership hosted a small alumni dinner on May 18, 2006 in Minneapolis.  Alumni guests from Devils Lake included Mark Oehlke, Brian Soper, and Pat Carney. Lake Region State College's Center of Excellence: Dakota Center for Technology - Optimized Agriculture recently received a $45,000 award ($15,000 annually over three years) from Lake Region Growth Fund with support from Forward Devils Lake.

The Center – an initiative funded through a $450,000 state Centers of Excellence grant – is a partnership between Lake Region State College in Devils Lake, private-sector partners Agri ImaGIS of Maddock, TotalCrop Farming Systems of Langdon, and area answer farms.

The Center’s program fuses three arenas: engineering research, applied research, and education, says Dr. Paul Gunderson, director for Dakota Center for Technology-Optimized Agriculture.

The center will engage in product design, prototype development, testing, agronomic impact assessment, job creation, new knowledge, additional consulting and educational opportunities, and entrepreneurial development.

Housed at Lake Region State College, the center is managed by director Dr. Paul Gunderson and coordinator Joel Mathiason and guided by a Steering Committee composed of local, regional, and national leaders.
