WillowBerry Lane
A Primary Sector Business
The word “Quilting” does not tell the whole story.

Formed in January 2005, by Vicki Oehlke and Sonja Moen of Devils Lake, WillowBerry Lane has been pursued by fabric companies, distributors, magazines, and now, a well known book publisher.   What do Sonja and Vicki do in that brick cottage?  They design fabric lines for Maywood Studio, a company out of Los Angeles that produces “quality” cotton fabric.  As fabric is being designed they are also working on designs for quilts, writing the patterns/books, then publishing, promoting, and selling these works around the world to distributors, quilt shops, and online retail. 

Various magazines publishing patterns designed by Sonja and Vicki include:
Fons & Porter for the Love of Quilting, Designers’ Quarters, The Quilter, Better Homes and Gardens Quilter’s Newsletter Magazine, and Quilt. 

Passionate about their work, Vicki and Sonja decided to invent a sewing notion that would help quilters of “all” skill levels.  Their patent pending BerriAngles™ have proven successful as a group of twelve “non-sewing” men created a queen sized quilt to be auctioned December 1 – 10 on eBay.  The proceeds will go to the American Heart Association.  The magazine Quilt is publishing an article on this WillowBerry Lane “adventure”.  Everyone involved had a blast!

With markets twice a year, speaking around the country, designing, writing, promoting, and running a rapidly growing business, Sonja and Vicki, along with their office manager Heidi Becker, are working hard, but loving it.  It’s always an exciting day at the WillowBerry Lane studio.
